Healthy aging

Older people today are largely active, healthy, take care to be independent and autonomous as long as possible and demand space and social voice. They have a determined desire to continue exercising their rights of citizenship and to participate in all that concerns us and concerns as a society this fact demands the social fabric as a whole to respond to these legitimate aspirations and to enrich themselves with them.

«Active aging is the process of optimizing health, participation and safety opportunities with the aim of improving the quality of life as people age».

In "active aging" policies, it is a matter of empowering the person as they grow older, of leading a productive life in society and in the economy. The term "active" refers to participation in social, economic, cultural, spiritual and civic affairs, and not only to be physically or economically active, tourism offers a framework for interaction and meeting with other people.

"Tourism is a social, cultural and economic phenomenon (...). As such, tourism has effects on the economy, the natural environment and the built-up areas, the local population of the places visited and the visitors themselves. Due to these various impacts (...) a global approach to the development, management and supervision of tourism is needed."
